ABSTRACT

Seismic interpreters are exposed to a wide variety of interpretation solutions, with differences in design, ease of use, and functionality. Unfortunately, these solutions are generally offered on a single platform, making it difficult for IT departments to accommodate best-of-class technologies. Faced with increasingly complex E&P challenges, oil and gas companies must make difficult decisions regarding the hardware platform for their current and future application software.
Paradigm™ overcomes this dilemma by offering its best-in-class interpretation solutions on both the Microsoft® Windows® and Linux® platforms, giving users and IT departments the option of using either one or a hybrid Linux-Windows environment.
This demonstration will focus on the development of an interpretation workflow performed on the 64-bit Windows 7 platform in a highly interactive and seamless manner. It will show how usability and ergonomics assist the geoscientist in taking advantage of best-in-class technologies and improvements in productivity. Paradigm’s platform solution incorporates state-of-the art, multi-survey and multi-user operations and perspectives to support the challenges of scalable, regional-to-prospect interpretation.
Some of the advanced techniques that will be demonstrated include:
• Automated tools for structural interpretation
• Co-rendering of multiple attributes in 2D or 3D
• Visualization and interpretation of pre-stack data in a common interpretation canvas
• 2D/3D seismic facies classification
